I call myself a poet

I call myself a poet

by Kelp

I call myself a poet
Though none have called me so
Ten thousand poems I count as mine
But none that you will know

I call myself a poet
But no one will concur
My own opinion holds no sway
To yours I must defer

I call myself a poet
From morning until night
But no one will agree with me
No matter what I write

I call myself a kind man
Though none have called me so
With one exception I recall
And that was long ago

But she herself was very kind
And gentle, too, like falling snow
And in her kindness called me kind
She was kinder though.
