Juxtaposition

by Kelp

The picture of Emily’s bandaged hand
With two fingers missing
Shot off by her captors.

The picture of hands raised
To display the Jewish blood
He had bathed them in.

The smile on her face,
The smile on his.

O teach me, you useful idiots,
You, who are proud to have a cause,
However misguided that cause may be.
Teach me how,
How can you spin this in any other way,
When I place these pictures side by side,
Than good on the one side and evil on the other,
Innocence on the left, guilt on the right,
On this side a hand that signifies survival,
On the other side the hands of a hideous animal.
